Independence Australia is a social enterprise helping people with disabilities to regain and retain their independence.

Today Independence Australia is a major provider of services to people with a disability.

As a social enterprise, they're about providing choices for people living with a disability or other personal need, supporting them to regain and retain their independence.

They believe everyone should have the opportunity to fully participate in life and the community, regardless of ability. Their aim is to improve the quality of your life and give you the resources, encouragement and power to make choices to enhance your well-being and lifestyle, whether it's in your own home, local community or in their residential facilities.

They have particular expertise in the area of spinal cord injury and poliomyelitis (polio), but they also support people with complex needs across a wide range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, motor neurone disease, spina bifida, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke and impairments linked to ageing.

In many cases people with significant disabilities can be amongst the most disadvantaged within their community and face major difficulties undertaking everyday life activities.
