Through commitment and support of local community members and a small team of workers, the service expanded to develop into a key organisation within the Toongabbie / Seven Hills / Parramatta area. Karabi is an Indigenous word from the local Darug tribe meaning Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. An integral part of Karabi, this project was supported by the Department of Community Services and now receives ongoing, renewable funding to work with the local community around the Seven Hills, Toongabbie area. In 2010 Karabi started the Indigenous project at Constitution Hill Centre with the Koori Idol Project and in 2011 Karabi Social Support project for seniors, frail aged and people with disabilities and their carers commenced to service the community in Blacktown LGA from Karabi Neighbourhood Cottage Seven Hills (KNCSH) Karabi receives renewable funding form The Department of Human Services – Community Services of Health and Ageing. Karabi consists of the following staff members: In addition to its own projects Karabi is also privileged to auspice projects for small local community groups such as the Wenty Estate Sport Group, Winston Hills Sustainability Improvement Project, Oasis Community Garden at Seven Hills, and Doig Street Community Garden in Constitution Hill.
