Proserpine and District Respite Services Inc. is an independent not-for- profit (NFP) and charitable organisation established in 1976 by local residents who saw support services were lacking for families of children with a disability.
Formally known in the Community as the Proserpine Activity and Therapy Centre for the Handicapped (PATCH) it has come along way since its humble beginnings as services provided by the facility have since been enhanced to include Aged Care. Today the Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre is a diverse multicultural community organisation working together with their Aging (Seniors) and people with a disability so that they have real possibilities to live life as independently as possible.Their focus is on supporting people along their journey through: Their professional staff create and maintain an environment where their participants are encouraged to make the greatest possible use of their abilities.
They offer support and assistance to both the participant and their carer / families.
